The UA/CO merger supposedly became "official" on 03/03/12. However, if you call the new UA customer support service and they put you on hold, what you hear while holding the line is UA's trademark 1924 George Gershwin "Rhapsody in Blue" (incorrectly identified by some as "An American in Paris"!), which has been United's theme song since the 70s-80s.

    Take the poll. You:
    (a) would like to keep "Rhapsody in Blue" as our song
    (b) would like the New United to find a new song

I like it... It's an American classic.

    Keep it!

Of course you still hear it. They announced a long time ago that they were keeping it.

Two airlines have merged. The point of the exercise is to assess the general feeling about whether to make a clean break and have the merged company's song be something else or to continue with what has been the theme song of one of the airlines...

And they kept a whole bunch of things from the legacy of both. It isn't like they threw everything else away but just the song. I guess I'm just confused why it is being debated months after the company announced they weren't going to change it.

I don't always fly UA, but when I do, I look forward to Rhapsody.

    Keep the song, my friends.

One last time, then I will ignore you:

The point of the exercise is to assess the general feeling about whether to make a clean break and have the merged company's song be something else or to continue with what has been the theme song of one of the airlines...

They paid for it already, I don't want them to spend money on music rather than the product.

I wonder if they'll change the music at the tunnel that goes to the El in Chicago --?

it runs circles around what they do tp you in the tunnel at DTW and it would take a reroute for someone who flies only UA to have to endure, but CO used to use that terminal.

If they wanted to make a "clean break" wouldn't they have changed the name from United and retired the Bingo Ball?
Please, go sell crazy somewhere else.

Speaking of "crazy", I see no reason to get unhinged over something put out there just for the fun of it.:(

I'm unhinged because I pointed out the idiocy of your initial post, which you've vehemently defended?

Go to google and search the word hypocritical. And then please run back to your other BB where the ability to call you out on your nonsensical drivel is protected by the thought police.

It is so integral to the public's awareness of the United brand, that I think that it would have been a mistake not to keep it. So, my vote would have been, and still is, to keep it.

You are unhinged and an idiot for being uncivil without rhyme or reason. If you read the Wikipedia entry on UA, you will see that a decision had already been made to keep Rhapsody as the company's theme music. I was already aware of this. My post was simply to elicit people's feelings about this. After all, OnePass members were known to be rather loyal to their airline so that how they feel about having Rhapsody as the merged company's theme music was of interest to me. If you do not see how one might be curious about this, then you are a bigger idiot than I thought.

    Over and out.

Ummm, I would much prefer this Classic to be the theme of the combined airliine. I think Mr. Henson woul tell you it really "Get's things started" for a flight.

Me thinks that some 'Guns and Roses' when boarding an airplane is much more appropriate. :D

When your friends say you're wasted, the bartender says you're cut off, the valet says you shouldn't be driving, and you run a red light and t-bone someone at 80mph, you're probably drunk.

Seriously keep the  on FlyerTalk...you fit in better over there..just my Tens of Dollars ;)

What ever this means. All I did was to start a thread that, as a classical music lover and supporter of the "R in B" as UA's theme music, I found interesting and to which some have responded with civility or jocularly, and then someone decides to be uncivil about it...why are you directing this at me?

Put on your reading glasses and see that the first uncivil thing stated in this thread was:
That, my friend, is uncivil. As is calling someone an "idiot". There's a difference between saying someone is spewing idiocy versus straight up calling them an idiot. Uncool.

Having said that, do keep in mind that our (my) general impression of the threads and posts penned by you are doused in a strong "eau du trolling" so we (I) expected the purpose of this thread to be of the same ilk.
