    Couldn't resist sharing... :)

The World's Top 10 Tourist Attractions

I've been to 7 of the 10. :) Just strolled past Faneuil Hall last weekend and will see NYC Saturday. :D

I have been to 8 out of 10. :) Have only been to Disney in Kong Kong and not in the US.

Of note, the comments on the USA Today article are amusing. Some good points, some less useful ones. I agree it is surprising that France is #1, but there are not attractions in France on the list...esp the Eiffel Tower!

I was surprised about France too. I was actually not looking forward to going to Paris a few years ago. I ended up absolutely loving it, but it was not on my list of must go places.

The US makes sense because of the value of the dollar versus other currencies.

Part of the reason I like to fly home to the US to do shopping. :D

This is not even the logical top ten for the US, although they're mostly there. I have been to all ten and enjoyed most of them, but Niagara Falls? How about Livingston, Foz de Iguazu, Angel Falls? those and several otehrs are far more logical than Niagara Falls. As for most of the rest, they have a certain logic if you think the US is all there si on the world.

I, too, go to the US to shop and to attend DO's but that is it.

Unfortunately I think very few of those are worth seeing. #1 is a billboard, #3 is a mid-range mall, #4 was interesting the first time until I realized it was another billboard, #7 is a nicer mall (but it has more going for it than #3 in terms of history), and I wouldn't really call #8 and #9 "tourist attractions." Disney is more of a "tourist trap" or "resort" since they could build it other places--and have--and people would still come (the rest are more dependent on natural geography or the local culture).

How does one actually count the people at GCT, CP, Time Square or Fanueil Hall, or everything aside from #8 and 9 on the list? How does one pick out tourists from local people going to work?

Does seem a bit US-centric. I was surprised to see Forbidden City so low, and no sign of Tiananmen Sqaure (across the street from the Palace entrance).

With all due respect to my friends south of the 49th, the list is far to American focused. Just sayin' .

seems like a fairly arbitrary and US-centric list. I mean I know it's based on gross visits, but many of these are estimates (as mentioned, Times Square, etc) and I can't believe The Great Wall doesn't recieve a massive #. Etc.

About 26 hours ;) My friend (her bday) and her mom are meeting me so we can wander and eat food. :) Friends from NJ are also supposed to join us at some point and we're going to go see the 9/11 Memorial.

9 out of 10 for me. Only the Vegas strip is missing from my list. Never had any chance (nor reason) to go there :)

It's probably more famous as Quincy Market.

I agree with rwoman, BOS is always very nice to visit, any time of the year.

I've been to 3 out of 10 TODAY! 8 out of 10 overall; not yet been to Anaheim Disney or Turkey - yet.

I wonder about these rankings. It would seem that far more visit the Great Wall or Forbidden City (or maybe even the Eiffel Tower) than the amount specified for #10.

If you don't like to gamble, LAS is great - everything else is subsidized by the gamblers!

Aside from the 13 :)eek:) theme parks on the list, I am missing 3 of the top 50 attractions - Bazaar in Istanbul (#10), Seaworld (#47) and Great Smoky Mountain National Park (#26).

When going through the list, I realized it was sponsored by Disney! :p
