I always try to get a window seat when it's a clear day and I'm traveling to a new place, and sometimes even when it's a familiar place (I always claim 7A flying in or out of SFO if I can). It's nice to be able to pick out your house or office when you're thousands of feet away. Astronauts have a much better view. I didn't pay that close attention, but they appear to be flying over California around 1:15 and over Italy around 2:00. The aurora is especially pronounced during the first couple minutes. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap111121.html
Very, very cool. I haven't seen anything like that before—thanks. Especially liked the lightning strikes.
I loved it! I posted the link to facebook and it got rave reviews. Everyone always wonders where I find such cool links, I tell them "from that travel site I'm on"!
Not many people understand the mileage obsession, they only know that I fly a lot for work and sometimes they get a ticket out of it.... they know I've been on a "travel website" for years, I didn't have the heart to tell them I'm on a new one now... they'd think I was crazier than I really am.
