|| The secret confessions of hotel employees ||
Many more " inside hints " with above LINK!
Um, maybe I am better off not knowing!
Why... why did you have to do this? I'm so utterly grossed out and simultaneously intrigued.
It's disturbing, like not being able to look away from a huge mass casualty accident.
I am sure there are lots of other things that I don't want to know...not the lest of which is what are those guys doing to my food back there!
I would love to stay at the hotels that give out all of the free upgrades, lower their rates and have bellstaff with connections like Vegas 25 years ago. Hook me up!
You left out the part where the glasses are wiped out with the prior guests dirty towel.
From the CNN article
"Don’t book your hotel room online! The reservations are a pain in the ass to deal with. They were almost always impossible to cancel/refund. They also charge more than the actual rate and pay us less."
I book all my reservations on line, get refundable deep discount rates that are below what the hotel can offer, and have never had problems cancelling reservations, or getting a lower rate (on line) when I spot one ....
and never get put on hold when I do so.
There is one exception -- sometimes I have to book a convention type rate and have to call the hotel directly.
I guess there's nothing like (in) accurate reporting.
Ignorance is bliss. I think I'll pass on reading this, just like I don't take a black light with me.
Especially the free food.
I've worked at a few hotels and never got free food.... One of the hotels did provide us with a great cafeteria and paid us during our hour lunchtime.
Not really anything new here that hasn't been talked about before in other articles. I know that websites need content, but pieces of rehashed accounts of hotel workers doesn't really get us into the true inner workings of hotels.
"Did you know you can get free stuff?"
Uhhh the last I don't know . .. every hotel I have ever stayed at has something in the bathroom or the services book that says if you need something ask. Only the cheapest of places or the highest end resorts have ever charged me for toothpaste, deodorant, and other items.
Anyone ever take a black light and check out the cleaning job in their superturbodeluxe, got-for-umptythousand points and $4.99 in taxes suite?
I have wanted to do that in rooms I pay for more than in room I got for $4.00 in taxes. Due to work, I stay where is convenient. For points, I would stay in nicer hotels that I have researched and know that they are good.
I worked for a hotel in the Cook Islands, they comped the staff one meal per duty shift which was excellent if I managed to pick up a double .
Was it from the hotel's restaurant?
One of the hotels I worked at was a boutique hotel so we got 50% off anything on the menu including steaks during our shifts since we didn't have a cafeteria. The hosts at the restaurant would allow us to get a discount before/after the shift as well
Prostitutes faster than pizza. You don't see that on Tripadvisor
Wonder if that prop is on our corp approved list
More importantly. If its posted to the account will I get points?
Like how they post porn movies: "titles aren't listed on the bill". Accounting will never wonder what the $14.99 movie was without a title on the expense sheet.
Some bacteria here and there is good for you!
They must be referring to third party booking services. I'm sure the front desk staff hates having to deal with someone who booked through Priceline and is trying to get a refund for a canceled stay.
Then why didn't the reporter say *that*? -- probably because he rarely travels and like many reporters has no idea what he's writing about and didn't do what's called in the trade any "fact checking."
Fantastic post. Thanks for sharing.... I think.
