They should also mention that hot and cold running water and air conditioning in the room are also included. Resort fees are such bull $h!t. Either absorb it as the cost of doing business or charge a la carte. Except for wifi, that's expected from your guests. Walt Disney world gives it away in the hotels and the parks. No reason a hotel should charge.

And resort fees include towels at some places, but they still aren't charging for toilet paper(yet!):(

Resort fees are just another way for the hotel to earn money but have it be less apparent to the customer. If you are looking for a hotel and it says $200 and includes everything but look at another hotels that's $175 but has a $25 resort fee to include the same amenities as the first hotel it's easy for people to not notice the resort fee or not include it in their calculation and think the $175 hotel is a better deal when in actuality it is the same cost as the $200 hotel with...

And the double whammy is that the $25.00 usually does not get you loyalty points / miles

Isn't that one of the main reasons they break out a separate charge? More profit for the hotel if they don't need to give points:mad: -
Just like the "service charge" - which doesn't always go to the people who provide the service, and also doesn't get points. So up to 50 or 75% of charges (sometimes if resort fee is high and so are service fees and taxes) are excluded from any point advantage

My award stay at the Westin Mammoth Lakes still required a resort fee. At least it included parking :) Resort fee included WiFi but since I would get it as SPG Gold, they gave 250 points each night instead.
