Yesterday (Thursday) I had a chance to recall the good old days of airports. Was flying JFK-MIA-SCL so hopped the A Train from Penn Station for JFK. First train to arrive on the platform was the Howard Beach/JFK train (no Far Rockaway trains still) and it wasn't crowded. Had a nice 45-minute ride to the AirTrain...though needed $1.75 to top up my Metrocard. Got to T8 and made my way to the Premium check-in area and had just one couple ahead of me in the First Class line. Agent handled my boarding passes quickly and I was on my way to that torture chamber they call TSA Security. I could see a rather long line snaking around a couple of times, though the entry to the Priority had just two people waiting for the agent to check their documents. Both of them were processed and took their place in the line (and I dreaded the next lost half hour of my life), but once the agent checked my boarding pass and passport, he opened the cordon and showed me through to the TSAcheck lane which was empty. The lone officer told me to leave everything on and just put my bags on the belt, but wait til they went through, which I did, then walked through the magnetometer myself and gathered my belonging. No shoes or belt or jacket to put back on. No repacking my baggies and laptop (which in preparation I had put into one carry bag for easy removal and repacking).

Although I am approved for this fast track, because I was traveling onward with an international segment, I would not normally have been able to use the lane. This is my ongoing problem because I always have a segment into Canada on my flights from US airports where these lanes are now available.

Onward it was to the Admirals Club/Flagship lounge complex where upon showing my boarding passes, I was immediately escorted to the Flagship lounge to enjoy a nice light and healthy lunch and sample a couple of wines while waiting for my flight to MIA. Also had a good view of two of the 77Ws that were gated just below us...and then noticed another new livery plane sitting at the gate I was to depart from. Unfortunately it turned out not to be a third 77W but just a domestic 772 that had gotten the outside redone, but alas not the interior!

Still, I have never had such a delightful passage through an airport in decades! It should only be this easy in the future...

What??? This must me a troll...no complaining about TSA, no rude GA's, no surly admirals club folks, the AC wasnt packed with no seats, you didnt get stuck in tbe back of the plane with angry FA's etc etc etc........

Just kidding. Nice to hear of a good experience every now and then. :)

The shower booths in the F.L. are also worth trying -- very nice and sparkling clean!

They are nice and always welcome after a long flight, but shared between the Admirals Club and F.L.

I may use the ones in the LAX FL on my return from KOA in July before getting onto my 3-cabin 777 LAX-MIA flight. Will have to settle for the MIA AC showers after my overnight on Monday/Tuesday from SCL this trip.

The lax fl is my favorite lounge operated by a domestic carrier. (Though I'm optimistic about the open air lounge coming to DL at JFK T4.)

Agree. Particularly because they have that superb Texas whisky on offer, Balcones. ;)
