    My favorite is the Spaghetti alla Carbonara served street-side at Campo dei Fiori...

    Yes, one should never eat anything in Italy that was imported from America. One should make a special effort to avoid that profoundly un-Italian food, the tomato.

    Vignarola in spring. It is the stuff of dreams for us. A mixture of peas, asparagus, fava bean, artichokes and guanciale, not really a pasta dish but just an incredible bite of spring. In the early fall, Piperno's for the mushrooms. For pasta, hands down the Bolognese at Colline Emiliano is my favorite.

    Indeed! And many of the Americanized versions of Pizzas and Calzones that may be available all over the city too.
