I was skeptical about the new amenity kits when I posted in TOB. It looked cheap with the clear plastic.
But after getting one or two myself, I think it's not bad at all. The plastic bag is very sturdy, and handy for LAG when traveling.
The kit contains Salvatore Ferragamo Tuscan Soul:

    • 40 ml Eau de Toilette
    • 75 ml Body Lotion
    • Cleansing Towel
    • 10 ml Lip Balm
    • 40 ml Facial Mist

Got this back in February NRT-SIN, I don't much like the bag at all.

Probably to fit in with airline security with the clear bag.

I got one of these in March on SQ 11/12, I forget which segment. The contents are fine, but basically the same as before. To me the bag looks cheap and tacky, although I can see how the thick plastic would be useful.

The dimensions aren't the same as TSA's mandated baggie.

Do you mean the volume or the LxWxH dimensions? As far as I recall, TSA only requires that the baggie 1 quart. There's no LxWxH requirement. But then the TSA also tells you the limit is 3 oz when it's really 3.4 oz (100 mL). Try explaining the metric system to a TSO.

    3-1-1 sounds better than ~3.4-1-1.

I've seen TSA make an issue of non-standard sized baggies that were clearly quart size or less. It's also amusing that some airports such as LAX distribute their own that aren't standard sized either.

If that`s the case then they chose the bag colour and design poorly.

Again, if you travel to many airports, they do have different sizes of plastic clear bags. And I compared what I have and the size of this kit, it's about the same. I can put the liquids inside the free bag distributed at the airport, and I put it inside this SQ kit. And there you go, I just run it through the security without any hassle.

I agree with you in many ways but TSA employees might not see it that way.

Actually last year I was lucky receiving the last of the clothed version.. This year I have to look forward to those plastic ones..

But IMO, its still better than what other airlines offer.. :)

The contents are better than other carriers' offerings too. However, SQ is surprisingly minimalist in what they give out in J/C.

Indeed.. That is what I don't like about them.. At least CX had gathered a few items, while SQ just gave Socks and Blinds..

I personally like the clear pouch for packing travel toiletries.

It's nice to be able to see what I'm looking for before reaching into the pouch.

I think the clear pouch was introduced as a result of passenger feedback. The bags and their contents have certainly been a hit with those I have passed them on to!

Wonder why? I love the old bags just fine.. The clear bags aren't all that 'collectible' in a sense.. :p

Gen_Flyer, I think you don't fly often enough on SQ. :p
When you fly SQ F, you want to collect all those bags. :D
But for many SQ flyers, who fly so often in F, they come to a point, where they don't want those kits anymore. Thus, the feedback was pointing to the direction of practicality and usability of the bag, i.e. for them, by having the clear bag, it looks better than having the ziplock plastic bag, and they can just put this clear kit bag on the security bin, instead of having to dig into the nice toiletries kit in order to pull out the ziplock bag containing LAG.

Again, the content of the amenity kits from SQ F is still away ahead from other airlines in general, IMHO. ;)

Well, that is true.. I haven't flown in them quite enough just yet.. :p

I guess I kind of understood the need for practicality. But honestly, I was never asked anything about my amenity kits and so forth in the US, unless it's a small airport and they have lots of time on their hands.. :)

I don't argue about its contents either.. Its the nicest content out there for F kits. :D

Too bad J only has blinds and socks..

SQ used to have the same kits. I mean Bulgari products before changing to Ferragamo.
