The most expensive dates to go on holiday:confused:

Families taking a trip to Crete or Florida this week could have paid an average 43% more than those waiting until the children have gone back to school, according to research from Santander Credit Cards.
In fact, a family of four taking a trip between 22 and 29 August could pay £790 more than those who wait until the 12 and 19 September.
Even more shockingly, you could face hikes of up to 92% if you're travelling from London to the Algarve during this period. In fact, the research identified one popular four-star resort, which increases school holiday prices to £2,174 compared with £1,133 after summer.
"High demand means overseas holidays will inevitably be subject to some price inflation during peak season. However, at a time when many families are suffering financially from the rising cost of living, it is difficult to justify some of these premiums," said Andy Smith from Santander, who conducted the research.

"There are bargains out there though if holidaymakers shop around, particularly for those who are able to book a trip at the last minute or are flexible in terms of where and when they travel."
As a general rule of thumb, those who avoid flying on peak travel days of Friday and Saturday pay cheaper fares, as do passengers willing to travel at unsociable hours - ie the middle of the night.

Although families with kids might have little choice but to pay higher prices on their holidays, there are ways to keep costs down during your break.
