A dispute between Gulf and US carriers could transform aviation

In Emirates Airline’s latest television advertisement, Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston finds herself aboard a flight that isn’t quite up to the standards she has come to expect of a modern airline. Struggling to locate the airplane’s shower, she seeks out assistance from the cabin crew. Finding them in the galley, the crew—clad in blue, red and white—are indulging in some break-time chit-chat, their strong American accents adding to the impression that the ad might have a target in mind. Aniston is informed that the airplane has neither a shower nor the bar the actress says she is planning to visit. Puzzled, Aniston questions why an Emirates flight is without either. “This isn’t an Emirates plane, ma’am,” one of the flight attendants replies, mouth full of food. The tone of the ad turns to mock-horror, Aniston becoming confused and disoriented as the flight attendants laugh and jeer at her seemingly absurd expectations. Cut to the actress waking up on a flatbed in an Emirates flight, then standing at the bar explaining to a suave English-accented flight attendant the horrible, sub-standard airline nightmare she’d had. “Is there someone we could talk to about maybe flying this around a little bit longer—just like an hour?” she asks him, before the ad draws to a triumphant close.

Emirates, to be honest, does a poor job in the back of the plane when it comes certain sectors/routes.
