How many [consecutive] days have you foregone housekeeping to earn 500 pts a night?
I go many consecutive days at home without housekeeping, and I get no points for that!
5 nights in a 6 night stay so that's the max...
Is this available anywhere or only at participating hotels?
You beat me to this.......
Said lots of women.....
I believe it is for sheraton's only. It is one of their big green initiatives. I was able to earn points for declining housekeeping in Canada and US. Assume it is the same elsewhere but someone with stays overseas could confirm that.
Ive had it @ Westins in the USA/Canada as well.
Never had this offered at any Asian hotels (darn), even ones that have awards for being "green"
Seriously though, I think there is less press about it and maybe not as much or rather less green awareness.
supposedly its also a way for hotels to cut costs via not having housekeeping work everyday. I read it somewhere
Most recently I've had this at the Westin Tokyo and Westin Diplomat.
So.... whats the relative value of 500 starpoints these days...?
Also, is there a link to this Green Option where the details are explained...?
If many guests werent just plain pigs there is really no need to for the rooms/bathrooms to be cleaned everyday.... do you clean your bedroom and bathroom at home every day?
Really the value of the points are almost irrevant I would take up the offer if given even if it was only 100 points but then I dont have the need to turn the room into a hog-pen.
The link actually doesn't include hotels in Asia, but since someone mentioned it was offered in Tokyo maybe there is hope
No hotels in South America....
Don't rely on the link anymore, just ask if they participate in the MAGC program when you check-in. Or email them before you reserve.
I have chosen the option at Sheraton and Westin hotels in China, Russia, US, Greece, France and maybe others. I have never found it not to be offered in any Sheraton or Westin. Luxury Collection and ST. regis I have not seen it offered.
$5 off F&B or the points is the offer. I usually take the points because 500 points on rooms I value above 1 cent.
To specifically answer the OP. I use the option every day, regardless of how long the stay. About every second or third day they make up the room anyway IME.
Has anyone gotten points for doing this while on award nights/C&P
Yes. Twice. Once a Westin. Once a Sheraton. Both in US.
I usually make the choice every day unless I stay more than one week. I do it just as I do at home, but at home I get different awards for doing so, frankly, better ones too.
I only received 250 pts a night at a 4 points, still took it all but on night (was with my young son and we ran out of towels.) they gave me credit for that night anyways.
Yep, me too, on award stays and C+P: in Canada and the US.
I've just had the option at the Le Meridien Bangkok and the LM Kuala Lumpur. At the LM BKK, I used it 6 straight days. The odd thing is that they do turndown service every night and they clean your room, provide new towels, etc... so it's really defeating the point of the program.
