The Freddie Awards, discontinued in 2009, are set to return in 2012 and milepoint is proud to be a leading sponsor. The 22nd Freddie Awards will be held in New York City in April 2012 and will resume operation as an annual event. The “Freddies” were awarded from 1988-2009 and are widely recognized by frequent flyers and travel industry executives alike as the preeminent award designed to honor frequent travel loyalty programs that offer the best value to members.

The return of the Freddie Awards is the result of an agreement between Randy Petersen (founder of the Freddie Awards) and the Frequent Traveler Education Foundation (FTEF), which hosted the Frequent Traveler Awards from 2010-2011. As a result of the agreement, the Frequent Traveler Awards will be discontinued and the FTEF will support the re-establishment of the Freddie Awards.

Milepoint fully supports the effort and spirit of the Freddie Awards to give a voice to the frequent traveler. As has been its tradition, the Freddie Awards will allow frequent flyers – those who know best – to vote for the frequent travel loyalty programs that offer outstanding services and benefits.

Voting is scheduled to begin in January and will take place online at the soon-to-be newly redesigned Freddie Awards Web site. Travelers can now sign up on the Web site to receive updates to the new Freddie Awards.
