Many folks here are interested in making a loan to every country that Kiva has a field partner in, so I am posting this list and will update it as it changes.
The best way to see all the countries that Kiva lends to is to go to lend page and click on the world map in the left column. A complete list of Kiva countries will come up.

84 countries have active lending partners as of December 2014:

    Afghanistan
    Albania
    Armenia
    Azerbaijan
    Belize
    Benin
    Bolivia
    Botswana
    Brazil
    Burkina Faso

    Mauritania
    Mexico
    Moldova
    Mongolia
    Mozambique
    Myanmar (Burma)
    Namibia

    Panama
    Papua New Guinea
    Paraguay
    Peru

    Solomon Islands
    Somalia
    South Africa
    South Sudan
    Suriname
    Tajikistan
    Tanzania
    Thailand
    Togo
    Turkey
    Uganda
    Ukraine
    United States
    Vanuatu
    Viet Nam
    Yemen
    Zambia
    Zimbabwe

Countries in which loans have been available in the past:
Bosnia and Herzegovina (paused since Sept. 2009)
Bulgaria (field partner closed on Kiva)
Chad (field partner closed on Kiva)
Gaza (field partner closed on Kiva)
Sri Lanka (field partner closed on Kiva)

There is a lending team call the Crazy Country Collectors, who also maintain a list and loan to new countries:

It is good that you've done this, miles and smiles. We seem to be having more and more people following your lead. You've also convinced me, I am up to 54 now, Counting Afghanistan, Chad, Bulgaria and Ivory Coast.

If Chad comes up for a loan, please let me now. I have a super soft spot for the country as I worked there for two years. :)

What happens to outstanding loans in a country where the field partner has closed?

I believe the partner in Chad has been closed for many years. Of course, who knows where Kiva will go in the future? You can always use the @kivanotify twitter system to hear about any country in the world.

Loans keep paying back. But no new loans are made. Of course, if the field partner is in financial trouble, there may be delinquencies or even defaults. But Kiva always works hard to prevent these or minimize these. jbcarioca recently reported getting refunds from Afghanistan where the field partner is now paused on Kiva. My Afghani loan is a few months delinquent, and I am waiting to see when I will get some/all of the remainder back. Obviously, making a loan to Afghanistan I knew there was some risk involved!
Are you a Kiva lender Kitty?

I understand. I haven't done it yet, either, but I may in the future, especially if I tire of checking kiva/lend constantly. :)

It took me a while to do due diligence and to try and understand the concept.
I am now sold on the idea. If I had had Kiva when I worked in Chad........it would have been easier a lot easier.

One of the many nice things about Kiva is that you can loan small. $25 will do it.
Let us know if you have questions. We're happy to help.

That may in fact be the case - however seems the competition within the members is too intense for my liking ... I prefer to do things more leisurely and behind the scenes - not this in your face - tracking who does what schtick ... not my speed for this sort of thing

    That is easy to address.

Don't check into the posts and say you loaned.

There are currently about 385 members on the team. I would guess 20 at most are partaking on the thread.

Many just quietly do their thing.

And we all congratulate every loan. $25 or $25,000. They are all very important.

It was 3 months after my first loan before I made another. And then 3 more before I had repayments.

Slow and quiet has a place here.

Other people have also posted to this effect but, the way to be anonymous or not to have all this hoopla is not to announce your activities. I am quite blatant, personally, but I manage Kiva portfolios for four other people, three of whom are listed as anonymous and the other one never makes a single post about her activities on Kiva. the point here is the benefits we can help deliver to people who need them rather than our competitive instincts. OTOH, many of us gain enthusiasm by actively monitoring our competitive stance.

    YMMV.

I hope you can enjoy milepoint and Kiva without being turned off by our wild enthusiasm. We cannot promise to be less enthused. We can promise to understand what our real objectives are.

The reason that I have been trumpeting loans is to promote the cause.
    I can be quiet too.

    Different strokes for different folks.
I feel that no one needs to apologize for their style.
I do see a lot of value in learning from each other and in acknowledging each other and in supporting each other. :)

The good thing about Kiva is that it's not a competition. However, we are a diverse group of people (remember, we're close to 400 members now), and some have the means to contribute more than others, but each team member does what he or she can within his or her limits. No-one asks how much you have contributed or how many loans you have made, because that's not what really matters. So if you rather prefer a leisurely pace behind the scenes, that is perfectly ok!

Is South Africa still lending? It is the only active country in the list I haven't lent to, but I don't think I've ever seen a loan available.

I think there are problems there. My only South Africa loan is delinquent, and I believe that most of the South Africa loans are delinquent.
