Looking to gather all the options for Bluebird, after reading many outdated blog posts, long FT threads, etc. I typically don't bother with manufactured spending, except for trying to reach minimum spend. For this run, paying rent through Bluebird is going a long way towards helping me reach my goal.

It seems there are a few things folks are trying these days:

Still getting VRs at regional locations that take credit cards (very limited by location and chain) [online unload to BB]

    • PayPower (if you can find it) with $0 fee [load to BB at WM] - could be dead and hard to find.
    • Visa/Mastercard Debt Gift Cards with PIN ($6.95 or $5.95 fee from MetaBank seem to work the best) [load to BB at WM] - these seem to be the most widespread.
    • $200 online Staples purchase and getting % back through an online portal (if you can find a portal that will do it.. TBD)
    • AAA gift cards if you have a AAA membership (maybe only mid-atlantic?)
    • My Vanilla Debit?
    • T-Mobile Visa Prepaid Card (gravy train may be ending on this too)
    • Simon Gift Cards at select Simon Malls ($3 fee for $500 load)

I know there are more, but since I'm just trying to reach minimum spend on my Ink by paying rent through credit card purchases, I've been sticking to the Visa Debit Gift Cards from MetaBank. If I could find a way to do it with slightly less fees, I would!

Where are you still getting portal % back for Staples GCs?

I actually haven't done it myself but read about it. Maybe all the ways to do it are now dead? Worth looking to I guess.

Edit: The Simon cards, yes. The Safeway down the street for an extra couple bucks is hard for me to pass up versus the savings of $3-6 to drive 20 mins to the mall. But I should keep them in mind. I hate malls. :D

Added Simon to the list in the first post too.

Which one are you buying specifically, and what bank?

Vanilla Visa Bancorp Bank. I don't get them at CVS. Check other stores. The same ones go for $5.95 at CVS…..at least they appear exactly the same to me.

Just got a paypower card today. $0 fee. That is an amazing deal. Wonder how long they will last at Safeway (everybody shut up about em! :D)

Indianapolis does have a Safeway, will give it a shot,

Still like the Simon Mall VISA Card, but no fee sounds good..

Alright, the safeways here in the DC area appear to have caught on to the fact that the card says "cash only" on the front.

Any new ideas from folks? I may be going to a Simon Mall to save a few bucks in fees.

Hey, nothing wrong with SMGC, been doing them for a long time, enough said...

Have some DC friends, and they say it is working fine for them...

I've noticed that some Simon Malls sell Amex gift cards, and not Visa or MC cards.

Our sell both, again you want VISA if you want a MO.

AMEX SPG is good to use at SM.

I've used MasterCards as well, though you might have to call an automated line to put a PIN on those.

Bump! Figured it's been awhile, and I'm looking at new MS strategies to meet minimum spend (by using BB's check writing feature).

Simon might be worth trying this time around. But I think the Safeway down the street still works.
