The Banyan Tree Macau Opens, Boasts Private Pools Inside the Rooms:)

And this is one of the lowest category rooms
In case there was any doubt about Macau being a huge hotel hot spot, a new five-star Banyan Tree has just opened in a massive complex which will also eventually be joined by the Hotel Okura Macau. It's part of the Galaxy Macau complex, but that doesn't mean it's going to be all giant, corporate hotel or anything. We're talking Banyan Tree here, which means all rooms (246 of them) are suites, some with private indoor "relaxation pools," the hotel isn't calling itself a hotel, but a "resort."

Macau's high-class casinos regularly bring in more moolah than Las Vegas these days, and it only makes sense that the accommodations on the peninsula rival (or bet) those in Sin City. If Caesar's can have entire high roller villas, then so can the Banyan Tree Macau, and indeed they do. Said villas are expansive, with entire private pools, spa treatment rooms, entertainment dens...everything a deep-pocketed gambler needs to feel comfy cozy enough to stay on dropping loot.

If one tries at all to swim in the in-room pool, the splashed water could be messy and damaging. These must be more like hot tubs or large bathtubs that are kept filled with hot chlorinated water, which could make the room stink of chlorine.

That is truly a bonkers concept.

  8. Very cool! I think Ben just recently posted a pic of his in-room pool at the Oberoi Amarvilas (Agra, India), which is similar. UV could be used instead of chlorine to sanitize, although perhaps cost-prohibitive.

Pools could be salt water or ozone (or whatever the other thing they use that isn't chlorine). Avoids the smell and the nasty chlorine feel.

It still seems like a bad idea. Maintenance costs (and thus room rates) must be astronomical.

I'm sure they researched and analyzed how they were going to "conserve" as much water and how they were going to sanitize it before placing it in the room. So... the next person who goes to the Banyan Tree Macau should ask the employees ;)

Exactly, Banyan Tree is a world leader in innovation and luxury products offerings and let's face it, guests demanding as always newer and faster solutions in today's over-saturated world. And this includes hotels, especially the ones who are new and wants some publicity. The cost, there will always be people out there who have an unlimited budget for everything which is cool and new incl. pools in guest rooms and suites! Conservation or not!;)

There will be a time when people with unlimited budgets will have to face more sustainable practices by hotels. ;) The ball is currently rolling at a slow speed.... :p
