Only time will tell of course ... there are always innovators out there who come up with new ways to do old things :)

Agreed. Perhaps the next mini-RTW-type innovation will be traded via conversations among members instead of getting FAQs, I guess. :(

Well you can have up to 10 member in a single conversation ... so it would not be a bad way to share information - please include me :)

Absolutely you're in if I am the one starting it! I think we know who should be in those conversations if they pop up! Those who contribute to MiPo/FT positively, those who post explanations and trip reports that help others, those who "play well with others", etc... :)

Anyone listening to the UPGRD podcast learned about these things long ago, and mostly Americans were signing up for AE accounts and channeling the US Amex rewards points into them for these redemptions. But the award is not dead, what has happened is the F award has been increased 45%. The real "secret" was the extraordinary value the F award represented made all the more attractive because the recession provided a surfeit of F capacity on LH, TG and a few other STAR carriers. Having known about it for many years, discretion was still called for and I shared it only with friends. But alas in the internet age, nothing remains a secret!

BTW anyone who read either the GLOBE or POST supplements on award travel earlier this week who have read an AE spokesperson talking about this wonderful award opportunity! Or maybe it was someone from FT or MP. But it was in print for more than a million people to read.

BTW, this thread has now been hijacked. Apologies should be given to JanYYC who started this thread to compile these trips, not to comment on them:

    Rules:
    - only posts with the trip report links to the Trip Report forum
    - no comments please, this will make searching through the thread much, much easier; please comment in the Trip Report forum

It's times like this one really does want a moderator to remove extraneous posts and put them where they belong, on the thread dealing with the change to AE!!!!!!!

It is a rebooking, due to a cancelled flight by LX, so it remains 120 000 miles. If you're speaking about miles.
