Hopefully, someone here can help me out...How far is The Peninsula Bangkok from the Grand Hyatt Erawan? We are staying at the Peninsula, but wanted to get in an extra Hyatt night if they are not too far from one another.
    thanks

Ummm.... not quite sure why it is in this thread but...... Not very far but traffic is horrible (esp depending on time of day). The Pen is across the river from the Mandarin Oriental and the Hyatt is adjacent to the Erawan shrine. Google maps is your friend.

The Pen is on the other side of the river (has a comp shuttle to skytrain - so you could take the boat to skytrain to Hyatt - not at all practical with luggage) You can easily take a taxi (if you get a metered one and travel off peak I would guess 200-300 baht) or hotel car - more expensive - ask hotel.
I don't know what you mean by far, though, if you meant walking distance then it is far.

Like @estnet sayz, Peninsula shuttle boat to Saphan Taksin and then BTS to Ratchdamri - or you can continue to Siam BTS station change to Sukhumvit Line and exit at Chitlom BTS skywalk into the Erawan Grand Hyatt.

Thanks. We are just going to check in to the GH Erawan for the stay credit, so no luggage.

The "interesting" part is that the perp came back with others and "rescued" her. Assaulted her, but didn't leave her to die?
Anyway, sure hope she isn't paralyzed - from what I've read doesn't sound like it just "she broke her back"?????

British father-of-four shot dead at beach resort in Thailand

A British father-of-four has been shot dead at a beach resort in Thailand.

Tony Kenway, originally from Southampton, Hampshire, was reportedly killed as he sat in the driver's seat of his car in the city of Pattaya.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was in contact with local police over the death of a British man.

Thai media reported eyewitness accounts of the incident, including a description of the gunman as a "chubby man wearing a white T-shirt and black jacket".

British backpacker 'accidentally killed herself' in Thailand after row with boyfriend

The mother of a 26-year-old woman who "accidentally hanged" herself after an argument with her boyfriend while on holiday in Thailand has warned of the dangers of visiting countries where alcohol is sold "cheaply and unregulated".

Abi Brown, from Waterlooville, Hampshire, described as "gregarious and with a zest for life", had been on a night out with her partner James Brum in Phuket when she returned to their apartment following an argument.

When Mr Brum (30) returned to the apartment he found her unconscious.

A post-mortem examination found the PA, who had given up her job to go travelling, had died of asphyxiation, an inquest in Portsmouth has heard.
