    I've been an American Express Premier Rewards Gold cardholder for several years. It's been the strongest Membership Rewards-earning card. Now, they've added new American Express Premier Rewards Gold benefits, made the earning more attractive, and I can really justify not just having the card but keeping and using it. While the first year fee is $0, it goes up to $195 if you keep the card after that. So the new $100 airline fee credit is crucial to the value proposition. I've tested to see how that fee credit works and just how valuable it is. In the first year you have the card you should pick up $200, and in my experience it even works with certain airline gift cards.
