I'll have (at least) a couple of hours in YYZ on 10/29 (I'm not sure when my ride will drop me there.) I know that I should plan some time to get to the U.S. gates, but any thoughts on what to do with the rest of the time that I am just hanging out?

ETA: Flying AA home, so that appears to be T3.

The postmarks look like Dallas, so I’m taking it on their word.

One of my colleagues was attempting to fly ONT-SFO-NRT. Needless to say, he was able to get UA to switch that to LAX-NRT.

ETA: Although I do need to educate him some more as he passed up the NH 77W for a UA 789, and he was in C.

The site is actually easy to remember - http://www.airportmailbox.com :)

Looking at your list I should have all of the airports covered except MKK. If you can pick that one up it would be great; would also take a coconut in lieu of a postcard. :D (From what I hear they have a 'free' pile; you can just grab a marker, pay postage, and write.)

If you go to the site and click on the 'Contact' page, I have a Web form and a PO Box dedicated to the project. You can also PM me here and I'll update information. I need to figure out a good way to acquire pictures for the site.

ETA: I recently sent a postcard to a couple of people from inside security at SEA and it worked as advertised; no specific airport postmark though.

Just got home from there, four hours late. Flug took off at 3:15 am, so I’m a bit wrecked. Can’t complain though, compared to what the folks on the ground are going through.

The odd thing yesterday was that SJC and OAK were not experiencing the same delays. Not sure how ATC works in that regard though.

The FAA has it listed as "WEATHER/LOW CIGS" so they are using their normal plan when Karl shows up.

True, although to be fair the last time I went it was infested by a band that sorta ruined the ambiance of the place.

I need some info from those in the Box who have reached the age to register for Medicare. Does the state reach out to you when the time comes or do you have to proactively register somewhere on your own when you think the time is right?

From my understanding, you should definitely sign up for part A (hospital) when you turn 65, and part B (doctors, etc.) when your employer health coverage ends (depending on how your employer's insurance works). I believe you can sign up online at the Social security site.

Yeah, I still have some research to do on this yet. I turn 65 next March and according to an AARP article I just read, if you have employer health coverage, they recommend holding off until that coverage is lost, even if you are older than 65. There is apparently a Special Enrollment Period for folks in this position and while enrolling for Part A sounds good since it is free, I'm wondering if doing so will interfere with choosing a Part C plan down the road.

Why is it $1,400 cheaper to fly to SIN than to NRT when you have to transit NRT?

This is when you don't argue and go to SIN. ;) First rule of airlines: airline pricing isn't rational.

I had the same issue where SAN-YVR was $200 more than SAN-YVR-YYJ.

I think I have at least one visit to Canada each year for the last four years so that should help. It's definitely not cheaper than GE for me, but worst case I can renew for GE quickly. I still have 6+ months before GE expires.

Ideally I'd get approved before December 1.

The CBSA agent at BFI was nicer to me than the TSA agent was.

When I renewed at YVR, I was able to do a walk-up interview. Both the CBSA and CBP officers were quite friendly.

Now that you mention it, CBSA agents always seem to smile a bit while doing their job. Comparatively speaking to TSA and US border agents, who generally are grumpy as f**k every time I cross back into the US.
