EXP/PLT with NY metro area addresses check your in-boxes.

This promo is similar to the free flight on Eagle to new destinations out of LAX promo that ran earlier this year.

These flights earn full elite and redeemable miles and you can also upgrade on these flights since it is a promo code that books into revenue buckets.

Terms as follows: Book by Nov. 14, Two-week advance purchase required and travel by Feb. 19.

Is this the promo you're referring, too? LINK. If so, the full text of the email is posted in the OP for those who want to see it.

No, this is an individual targeted promo code that allows the passenger to book a free flight. Unlike award travel, you can submit a request for an upgrade at time of booking even though the fair paid would be $0.

The other promo is for free upgrade for all GLD/PLTs traveling on those specified routes.

Gotcha, related but not the same. Those AE flights in NY must need attention.

Time away from my family for little reason is the most expensive cost I could incur.

Perhaps I'd bring my son with me...that's a different proposition.

Does anyone know if the coupon is only good for the pax who got the email, or can I use it for my wife?

Since the promo code needs to be entered and applied before we get to the passenger details page, I suspect you will have luck using it for someone else.

Not targeted yet even as a PLT and metro-NY address, bummer.

Looks like another wave of emails with the promo code will not be forthcoming.

AmericanAirlines posted the following on FT:

Thanks for asking, we understand your frustration here. To explain, the members who received this offer were pre-selected based on certain criteria. If additional members are added, we are no longer able to gauge the effectiveness of the offer. Also, while we do have various promotions throughout the year, there's always the possibility that you will be selected for a future offer. Please continue to check AA.com for information on current promotions, and feel free to shoot any more questions you have our way! [IMG]
