The code for signing up for platinum is HVLP1. Gold is HVLG1. Doesn't hurt to try to sign up just in case it lets you.

I wasn't privy to the email since it wasn't sent to me. Sorry!

Interestingly, when I signed up it did seem to work, at least in so far as generating the e-mail below. However, as yet my status and number of 500-mile upgrades haven't changed, and the offer details cannot be seen under "view all offers". Fingers crossed, as I only recently lost United status and was hoping for a low effort status match.

AA let's anyone register for a promo. But if you don't meet the target group requirements you don't get the benefits. They weed people out on the back end, not the front end. I wouldn't get too excited.

    Still, good luck. ;)

A 5 year old flying that much in that short amount of time. Borderline child abuse, no? lol

    But you gotta do.....!

If it helps, another person noted that their daughter received the EXP offer. Both are AA GLDs currently.

Presumably some reporting on the AAdvantage ranks show declines so they are turning some knobs on the machine to bump up the numbers. Hopefully someone in the program will turn the bonus EQM promo knob :)

I am hoping and have been watching to see if they turn that knob too! Even with several cross country trips I am below where I need to be at this time to maintain ExPLT

I've used DEQMs in previous years to help me qualify and generally don't mind them, but I have to agree. I'm a bit over the DEQMs and status matching for this year.

But with merger pain coming, who knows what we will see.....

I have been having a harder time with upgrades as is. A lot of my travel this year has been in/out of SFO, though, which just seems tougher in comparison to other cities.

It's a business and they do these things on purpose :)
I think they have become more aggressive on pricing certain flight options and are doing a better job managing inventory.

Agreed. I've had several 763 transcons this year where First was only $250ish more and I've pulled the trigger to guarantee F.

Thanks for the tip and the link. I entered it into my account and will update if any benefits get applied. I already have the minimum mileage covered from flights already taken this year.

Edit: I also came across this post about registering for a challenge and paying a small fee to get a status change. If I know I'm traveling enough to cover the points in a 3-month period, would this make more sense to do instead of a MR or do both to be safe?
