  1. GET 50,000 BONUS MILES AND SAVE $85.

This limited-time offer makes the Continental Airlines OnePass Plus Card more rewarding than ever. Apply by Aug. 31, 2011, and once you're approved and make your first purchase, you'll receive 50,000 bonus miles — enough for a round-trip reward ticket to Hawaii, the Caribbean or Mexico. Plus, the $85 annual fee is waived your first year as a Cardmember.

This invitation is just for you, so your application will already have your name and address filled in for your convenience.

Your personalized invitation number for this offer:
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

How good is this offer? I recently was denied for Chase Sapphire Preferred for having too many inquiries recently. Anyone else with this offer?

Interesting... I would have thought they would start winding down the CO cards. They seem to have started up the promotions again. Good news for anyone who missed out this spring.

Chase is strange with their "too many applications" ding. And, my Chase success rate has been quite low (never approved for the BA cards, yet strangely approved for the UA and CO cards).

Just got the same offer an hour ago. Thinking about it. Was wondering what happens after Continental merges. I mean, it's still a bank controlling it so I would think it's still valid. Plus, the points will post immediately after the first purchase.

I got this offer this morning and signed up. 50,000 Star Alliance miles with first year's annual fee waived and no minimum spend is good in my book. I'm glad I won't have to make any trips to the bank with dollar coins! No instant approval, so I have to wait for the decision via snail mail. Bummer.

This is also nice. But I think you only get it after one year. Right?

This is a great offer for those targeted since Chase limits the sign-on bonus to only once per type of card! And is a great way to get another 50K United miles since Continental will soon merge with United.

I would apply for the card, get the bonus miles, and then cancel the card before the merger with Continental (one of the few times when I wouldn't wait for a year to cancel the card).

After the merger, I would wait for a juicy offer on the Chase United card and grab it. That way I could get more United miles than I otherwise could.

Too bad I've already had both the personal and business Continental cards so I won't be able to apply for this card (if I was targeted) and get the sign-on bonus!

Million Mile, do you think Chase sends these out rather randomly even though it says targeted? I got the Chase BA card in May and so I was wondering why they targeted me for it only to deny me (which I hope they don't do). As UltranerdX says, we'll have to wait.

Count me in the No status with CO but got the offer :)
Think it helps if you have status with another airline (and that airline's credit card) to get targeted...

I don't know how Chase developed the target list for this offer, but in general marketers (I hope!) have mined through the data and chosen a target which they hope will be profitable to them, so I suspect that the targeted offer is not randomly sent out.

Did you get denied for the Chase BA card?

I did get the BA card and just finished paying the first month on a lot of the $2500 spend so that could be why.

I have absolutely no status - in fact, never took a flight on CO ever in my life, but opened the OnePass account solely to swap United miles to Continental miles to Amtrak points - but was invited. I once held a UA card but gave them up when I stopped flying frequently. Thought about applying for it when this deal was open to the public a few months back but didn't; now maybe I might, although I would swap it out for Amtrak points since I still don't fly that often and Amtrak points for sleepers are worth more for me than airline tickets.

I never have thought about the Amtrak swap but will look into it. I never think of trains (except in Europe) but maybe they are a good alternative if you have the time.

  20. Ah I want this card but I would like the Sapphire Preferred more. But I might get disapproved again!

i did this targeted offer, which i was surprised that they sent me since i had already done the same offer last year and cancelled the card. yesterday they sent me a letter saying i wouldn't get the miles since i had done the offer before. i sent them a secure email asking why they sent the promotion then and asked for the miles. we'll see what happens. :)

  22. That is interesting they would do that. Someone applied for the card and they didn't get approval even when they were targeted.

Update: I called Chase today and they said I had been approved for this card. BA card in May and CO One Pass Plus in July. So I guess I'll not apply for any more Chase cards for now. I logged in to my account and saw the card there. Though it had the icon that said "Continental One Pass" and not "One Pass Plus" so now I'm wondering if I got the Plus card. ??

Chase takes a very firm stand on not awarding bonuses for the same type of credit card again, even if they send you a targeted mailing.

Sure, you'll get approved for the card, but you won't get the sign-on bonus again. So you've got to be certain that you haven't got the bonus in the past.

So if they are the same/similar cards then Chase will not always give the bonus miles which is seeming to be the case here. I'm not sure how to tell if cards are similar. BA is Visa Signature. CO is a Mastercard. The CO Mastercard seems different to me because it includes the free checked bag and complimentary Club passes. But maybe you're talking about something else. Perhaps just because it's Chase and Chase is not going to give out bonus miles to the same person within X months.

When I look at my account online the Rewards Program Details do not mention any sign up bonus but do include all of the other details. But it is also missing an annual fee. That might be due to the first year being free though. ??
