The Target on Maui is not accepting any credit cards to fund the Red Card. Although there is no policy for it the system won't allow it. The manager cannot override it and the tech services also cannot do anything to allow it. We were there for 45 minutes then decided to leave.

CC funding works at both Honolulu locations. Not sure if it's worth your time or you find yourself over here much, but just thought you'd like to know.

Nice to know. We were hoping that the Maui Target would open in February, and try to load RedCard. I think it opened on March 4. Maybe the policy there will change b/f we go again in May. Or October

Thanks for your reply. I live on Oahu but am on Maui often enough to make the Kahului store very convenient. I'll update on my trip back in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to a fellow milepointer (thank you very much!), I finally got a redbird, registered it, took it down to Target Maui earlier tonight, had no problems loading it with a visa gift card (as a credit card) at customer service, and then again with a regular credit card. (US Airways/AA Aviator Red card with the 50% bonus promo).

    The only issues:

Cashier didn't know how to do it, but somebody came over and was willing to try it out.

Purchases with my temporary, but registered card did not automatically take the 5% discount. Same manager issued cash credit.

So I walked out with two loads on the card and an extra $1.42 in my pocket.

    Life is good!

Store was fairly empty at 8:30pm. They are eager for our business there.

I have had no problem loading my REDcard at the brand new Target store in Kailua on Oahu. Despite the card not being sold in my state, every Target person that has assisted me has been able to do a load with my various credit cards (probably 8 loads in past 2 weeks). I bought my card on eBay.

Well, it is hard coded in the registers now, so no love from Target. Reports are that they still allow loading via debit cards so Simon Mall or Vanilla are still options. A two step process, but still a way to MS.
