From the Folha de São Paulo:
    http://www1.folha.uol.com.br/mercado/1109404-tam-deixara-a-star-alliance-ao-se-unir-a-lan.shtml

    From LAN's website:

    http://www.lan.com/es_us/sitio_pers...ansaccion-y-dan-origen-a-latam-airlines-group

    "

My lowly Premium status on LAN did show up on my TAM boarding passes.... however, I still don't know if my flights will count towards elite status on LAN, nobody from TAM could confirm this... all flights were in July so maybe yes...?

OTOH, you can count on them both to do offensive things, so maybe you'll receive credit on neither. Cynical, me? I suppose TAM losing 150,000 miles for me and refusing to even examine the case plus LAN cancelling my flight, then refusing change of alternative and denied boarding compensation, to name two recent events, might be clouding my judgement. LATAM IME is trying as hard as they can to emulate the evolving character of government in Mercosur countries.

I cannot disagree with you..... however, for us folks residing here in deep South America, like it or not, a proper functioning and somewhat decent customer service oriented LATAM would be a good thing... given the only other choices aren't that great.... looking at Gol, Aerolineas.... what else is there...? Guess the Gulf airlines for some feeder flights.....
