Talks to avert strike action at Aer Lingus:confused:

TALKS aimed at preventing flight chaos that would ground tens of thousands of Aer Lingus passengers got under way today.

Aer Lingus bosses attended discussions at the Labour Relations Commission this morning in an attempt to resolve a dispute with pilots over rostering arrangements.

It follows a move by the Irish Airline Pilots' Association (IALPA) to notify the airline of its intention to begin industrial action next Tuesday.

Up to 30,000 Aer Lingus passengers a day would be hit if the action went ahead, with the airline warning it may have to ground all flights.

Pilots at Dublin and Cork airports said staff shortages mean they are being asked to work five and six days in a row followed by just one day off.
