As one of United's best customers (ahem), I received this email:

    Dear HaveMilesWillTravel,

Because you are one of our best customers, it would be my pleasure to welcome you to an exclusive celebration of the opening of San Francisco's Terminal 3E on Saturday, January 25th. You'll be among the first to experience the new boarding area at T3E, featuring world-class art, luxury amenities, state-of-the-art technology and breathtaking views. We invite you and your guests (including up to five members of your immediate family or household) to an exclusive reception featuring a private wine tasting with United's Master Sommelier and Master of Wine, Doug Frost, and hors d'oeuvres inspired by destinations we serve from San Francisco. You can also mingle with United executives and enter for a chance to win prizes and giveaways. This exclusive reception is being held within a larger T3E Community celebration where you'll find music, games and entertainment. It promises to be a good time for the entire family. Space for this event is limited, please RSVP today. We hope to see you there, and thanks again for your exceptional commitment to flying United.
My wife, as my MM 1K guest, received the same invite.

Congrats, HMWT! You'll never have to ask, "DYKWIA?" again. Obviously, they do. Unless, of course, you run into a UA employee who does NOT know. Print that invitation and carry it with you at all times as proof. ;)

Absolutely! It might be best for HaveMilesWillTravel to also print extra copies to place on the outside of his luggage!

We did not receive an invitation, but did notice (last night), that it looks like the 3E was just about ready. It appeared that all outside construction gear is gone, signage up, and maybe touch-ups going on inside.

    Enjoy, and please report.

Lots of XYZ-friendly marketing banners and posters.

They had a 757 p.s. available for boarding from gate 63 (the Premier Lounge) and an internationally configured 777 for the general audience.

My visit to the Premier Lounge must have been during non-meal times, because Hors D'oeuvre were no where to be found, so I bought my first meal in T3E...

Hmmm. Embedding images from the Android app doesn't seem to work all that well. Why are they so tiny?

I was on the first flight out of the new terminal. Lot's of very happy SFO ops and UA ppl there for the kick off. And they even gave us early arrival into JFK to make it a perfect first flight.

Sounding good! Just when I finally got used to the buses between T1 & T3, they open T3a.

Guess that we'll get to see that, as we're flying direct SFO to PHX next month. Lately, we've been doing LAX to SFO, and SFO to LAX, so we've been in the old T3, and only saw T3a from the RCC there. Looked nearly complete, in early Jan, when we taxied past, but now, it's official.

Thanks for the update and the pics.

Minor correction - it's pier E, so they call it T3E. There is no pier A in T3. A is one of the piers of the international terminal.

That's because the rest of T3 is pier F and the side of the I terminal near it is pier G. Not that anyone needed to know.

Glad someone could go. I wasn't invited, but I couldn't have gone anyway.

During the ceremony today, the SFO ops director Mike, said the 'e' was for 'east'

And "F" is for FlyerFriendly, right? ;)
