Singapore Airlines To Serve Sweet White Wine In Suites And First Class
Not Chateau d'Yqem? Shocking for SQ Suites to serve just a second growth wine, even if it's a very good one!
SQ is quite mingy
no chance in hell a wine that expensive can get past the bean counters at SQ....
Their two FC champagnes aren't exactly cheap, especially given that they even serve it on the ground (and hence pay duty in many places, including USA, which is why so many carriers have cheaper predeparture sparkling junk). Krug sells at the $400 per bottle level in my local wine store and Dom goes for about $250, although not the same vintage. I don't know what the price points are for their enhanced red burgundies that they brought out a year or two ago.
With dessert wine, I suspect that fewer people would take it than drink champagne or wine with dinner and the servings would be pretty small, so per passenger it might not be so expensive, although the remains of an opened bottle would presumably be wasted.
How's about adding Salon Blancs de Blanc in with the current champagne selections?
Three in FC for 12 seats seems excessive and wasteful, but it would be a good choice to offer in C/J.
One of the two needs to be bumped down to C/J and make room for the BdB..
I think people in FC would object.
But they could always have it..
Just as passengers aren't supposed to move between cabins, SQ wouldn't normally let wines move between cabins as it would tend to erode the exclusiveness of their IFC.
Unless it's in their lounges where C champagne is served in their TPR
True, but most carriers serve different wines in lounges than they do in premium cabins. I think it's due to the different categories and ways of accessing even flounges. However, given the entrance policies for TPR, you would expect more special champagne (although I guess I should point out that I am willing to drink happily what they serve in TPR),
+1. I actually don't mind drinking the stuff they serve in the TPR
I know I am late in posting this. Hopefully MPers who happen to be at TPR will be able to attend.
Wine Event in The Private Room, Terminal 3 SilverKris Lounge
We are proud to present a wine-tasting event exclusively for Suites and First Class passengers in The Private Room, Terminal 3 SilverKris Lounge, from 29 August to 09 September 2011. Commencing daily from 8pm to midnight, this event will feature a selection of Red Burgundies as well as a 2009 Château Filhot, Sauternes. Cabin Crew Air Sommeliers will also make presentations at the top of every hour to introduce these wines.
Why do they do it everytime I don't fly with SQ and don't have any travel plans around??
Oh wait.. Wines.. never mind..
SQ followed you. They know that you take Traitors Air. Therefore, wines tasting at TPR. So no risk of a college boy misses his new quarter term.
Yeah! I'm a traitor alright... Yet I felt most comfortable flying with them but not accruing anything with them..
