My wife and I have enough Hilton points for two AXON7 awards as well as two free weekend nights (so about 10 nights total). I'm looking for suggestions for burning them this September in Europe. We would probably use our BA companion pass to get there and start in London for either two or 4 nights. After that...we're open to suggestions.

What are some of the nicest European Hilton's you've stayed at?

That's a very broad question, since properties have their own plusses and minuses.

The Hilton Prague is nice with a decent location.
The Hilton Slussen (in Stockholm) is very nice, with lots of organic and locally sourced food in the lounge, and a great location.
The Hilton Frankfurt has an attached health club with a 25-meter pool, quite rare for hotels.
The Hilton Berlin is nice, with a nice lounge and good location.
The Rome Cavalieri (a Waldorf Asoria) is nice with a very nice breakfast. Location isn't ideal but is doable.
The Hilton Metropole (in London) is OK. If you pay extra and get an Octagon Suite it's very nice. Good location. Pool is swimmable (maybe 18 meters) and ozone purified.

There is a new Waldorf Astroria in Berlin but I have not yet tried it.
I've heard nice things about both Hiltons in Budapest but have not stayed at either yet.

If you are willing to go outside Europe, the Hilton Sydney is nice, with a 25-meter pool and a good location (tiny rooms though). Nice breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Standard rooms are small, so you may want to pay extra to guarantee a suite.

Pretty much any Conrad in Asia will be spectacular compared to most Hilton properties in Europe. My favorites are Tokyo and Hong Kong, but there are so many I haven't tried that I can't say these are the best.

We are probably going to stick to Europe. Anyone else care to comment on the Waldorf Cavalieri? Rome is a possible destination.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

There's extensive information in the (rather long) FT thread on the Rome Cavalieri: Rome Cavalieri, The Waldorf Astoria Collection.

In brief, it's a grand hotel with large, luxurious rooms and baths. They are rare among W-A properties in that they offer free (very nice) breakfast to Gold and Diamonds. No complimentary lounge unless upgraded to (or pay to upgrade to) the elite floor. They have a free shuttle into town, otherwise you can walk (long) or use a taxi. Very large pool. Large, lush grounds.

I'm not sure the AXON awards can be used with the Waldorf collection. Anyone know for sure?

I can confirm in my case the answer was no. I am planning to stay at the Rome Cavalieri in August and was not able to use AXON. Waldorf's qualify for the VIP redepmtion reward though.

I think we can rule out the WA in Rome. Too far from the downtown area.

Anyone have feedback on the Amsterdam Hilton?

    Hilton Budapest.
    Hilton Prague.
    Hilton Diagonal al Mar, Barcelona
    Hilton Toledo, Spain.
    Hilton Sorrento
    Hilton Dubrovnik

As far as Rome goes there are decent reports about the smaller HGI Claridge, Rome close to the Villa Borghese Gardens at least its walkable to the subway.

The Hilton in Venice gets pretty good reviews. I have not stayed there but was looking at the hotel for a trip next year.

You might consider the Hilton on Park Lane in London, as the location is fantastic and very central.

They also have an executive lounge you will have access to as diamond. I'll be there in August!

Well, September is Oktoberfest in Munich (21 September - 6 October),

    http://www.destination-munich.com/oktoberfest-2013-dates.html

There are two very nice Hiltons in Munich, the City and the Park. Both are being raised to category 8s.

If you want to get space, better reserve as soon as you can, though.

The Diaganol al Mar is very nice. Many first reactions are that it is too far from city center but super easy to get to all the major spots. Also, plenty of convenient eating spots in the area. Hotel itself is very well run.

It's been a few years now, but the Prague Hilton was one of the best. Eccutive Lounge was open all day, including alcoholic drinks, pastries, etc. Close to everything in Prague.
