Is there a section on the site to find current acronyms and even for future ones?

Even for regulars who might know what it means, but for the newbies it would be helpful. Example, FF, FO, AA, DL, JFK, and many others.

It might be helpful to be part of the 'Help' section.

Can I also suggest adding a list of airline codes and airports? There are always some of each I need to look up or ask about on occasion.

Links are fine, but I would prefer not to have to search for the links on my own but to have something on site to point me in the right direction.

I always found it faster to google the airport code rather than look it up in a glossary.

That's cool, but it's cleaner (and preferred) for me to go to a specific list

I agree that we probably don't need a list of airport codes, but I do think the idea of an Acronym Glossary is a good one.

There are so many shorthanded codes used, it would be nice to have a reference for these and avoid acronym questions from newbs in forums.

True, as long as that list loads quickly. In that other place it was slow and felt awkward to access. :)

If we have a wiki on MiPo, we'll have the same issue: anyone can update a page. For airport or airline codes, I suspect fake edits won't be a huge problem anyway, whether they are maintained within MiPo or a as a link to wikipedia.

I believe we need any travel related acronyms. There are hotels, car rental, airlines, and airport codes acronyms mean different or something on other websites or even on this site between people and it can get confusing.

The problem is when anybody starts a new topic/post with any acronyms. They don't explain what the acronym is. They assume you know.

Not everybody knows what FO means? Is it Fly Often? F@#$ Off? Final Offer? First Officer? Or DL (Delta Air Lines) Silver Elite? [IMG]

I think FO is the acronym it took me the longest to get ... I understood what it meant, but couldn't figure out FO since I was not in the program when they used the terminology. Agree that the glossary needs to be segregated by the subject

It should not be a Wilki format. There should be a request and only Admin's should be in charge and updated the page.

It sounds like Randy is envisioning community-generated content, whether wiki or something similar. But of course I may be wrong on this ...

This stuff is factual, not sure it is appropriate for the community to generate it. The content for the site like threads about the programs, sure but that is more foundational and should be provided IMO

I think that a nice enhancement to the Search system would be a checkbox to tell it to only search online help or FAQ pages. Perhaps a good approach for this would be to tell it to use Google site search for a specific sublevel such as milepoint.com/help.

Letting the community create/update factual data seems to generally work okay for, say, Wikipedia (or http://flyerguide.com). Another example is Stack Overflow (and the other Stack Exchange sites), as I just wrote about here.

I think I should have said finite as well as factual. We'll see what Randy has planned ....
