Let's keep a list of successful things that we've gotten reimbursed via the $200 annual credit for our selected airline. For those who are not familiar, Platinum and Centurion Amex customers get to choose an airline (from a predefined list) at the end of each year. For charges other than air travel itself, you can get up to $200 credit from eligible charges billed by that airline. The "eligible" part is ill-defined, and different CSRs say different things. So, I think it will be useful to have a thread that lists unique items that have been allowed (or disallowed, if it's other than actual travel). My suggestion is to not repeat entries, so that we can have a single, merged list.

    I'll start us off:

Got credit for the fee for some AA award tickets. Didn't get credit for AA gift card.

Only when you're flying DL. Cent used to get you into DL when you weren't flying (via Priority Pass), but they lost Delta. And also, the annual membership gets you into a bunch of other clubs, including Alaska and a bunch of international clubs. (See http://www.delta.com/traveling_chec...n/delta_sky_club/sky_club_locations/index.jsp and make sure to select "Member" from the dropdown)

ah ok thanks i didn't know that

  6. How long does the credit typically take to post? I've read some reports of AA upgrade certs being re-imbursed under the Platinum card program. I'm still waiting on mine. I will probably have to call Amex.

Worth noting that this is only for US airlines. As I fly pretty much only EMEA airlines, even when flying to the US, this benefit is useless to me.

I agree that it's lousy that they only support US airlines. However, I rarely fly DL, yet registered them as my airline, and was able to make good use of it (including for international lounges - see above).

Registered AA. Reimbursed for food purchased at Admirals Club. Not reimbursed for upgrades, even though others reported success.

Customer service offered three different explanations for the decision not to reimburse the upgrades. These now appear on their internal (unpublished) "ineligible" list. Bottom line: an expense reimbursed in December 2010 for some cardholders may not prove reimbursable longer term.

Reimbursed so far this year for a same day confirmed change fee and for the luxury taxes paid on a eVIP LHR-MIA upgrade. Nice to now know those extra UK taxes are covered!!!!

Reimbursed for some CO buy on board food. Also, somewhat surprisingly, got reimbursed for two revenue tickets (one totally, one partially) that were under $150 each.

  14. Is it worthwhile to call customer support to inquire about inclusion/exclusion lists? Or is the OP's statement accurate about different reps providing different information?

Why not just call to say that your charge hasn't been reimbursed? Or is this for future planning? I also have had much more success dealing with their Twitter/Social Media team vs. normal customer service.

Were you aut[IMG]matically reimbursed when the charge from your chosen airline appeared, or did you have to request reimbursement?

Yes, those did. I was not expecting the ticket reimbursements at all. Nor would I have called to request credits for them. Baffled, frankly. Someone at another board suggested that perhaps it was due to the ticket cost being under $150.

All of my reimbursements have posted on the same statement as the charge and without any requests or prompting.

To be clear, you purchased some AA gift cards on AA.com and did not get the automatic reimbursement? Hmm...I was planning to do that based on a few successes mentioned on FT, but perhaps I'll just look elsewhere.
