  1. I have seen it online:

  3. Still, don't you think that Senators, HONs and possibly even Star Gold members should get some extra flexibility? I do.

Yesterday in DUB the carry-on luggage was weighted at Y-check-in but not at C-check-in.

Bags with more than 8kg or over-sized bags had to be checked-in.

so no slap on the hands. just enforced. Did status matter? If you checked in at Y as FTL/SEN/HON?

Yes, status mattered as you are able to use the C counter where they did not check the size or weight of the bags and just put the "approved cabin baggage" label on it.

At the C counter they didn't check the bags - no matter if flying Y or C. I have no idea why a FTL/SEN/HON should have queued in the Y line, so I don't know if the status mattered at Y-check in ;-)

Also at MIA and PVG- I always look for the shortest checkin line for example- which frequently is the whY line.

On Sunday the captain on LH1782 threatened to call the police at MUC as an irate SEN w/family travelling in C to ADB protested that some of their hand luggage had to checked after they had boarded.

I also saw some commotion at the gate in MUC in December when going to IST as there was a man between the gate and the jetway intercepting everyone with more than one piece of hand luggage before they got on the plane.

But I haven't seen the banners.

On trip in F thru Muc. was asked for passports while on plane before take off. When i asked ground staff why...they said it was strange to have no checked luggage on such a long trip (YUL to BKK). Staff came back with passports in a few minutes and we were on our way.
Is this part of new policy or just good security checks on passengers!

This is just strange. Many many passengers flying longhaul don't have checked luggage. I don't know why they would ask for this, but not for the reason they gave you.

  19. I flew out of DUB with LX on the 6th and they made me check my bag when they saw it at the gate. Same bag I have use as carry on forever. Nothing was siad at C checkin and they saw the bag.

This can occur with LX- with LH it is (or at least used to be) much more uncommon. I have had this happen with LX also at ZRH on more than one flight. Out of curiosity- how heavy was the bag?

  21. It was a gate checkin so no weight taken but I believe the bag weighed about 12/13 KGS

In the case i mentioned out of Muc, LH never even looked at the bags....just the passport check mentioned.
Have used same bags/approach for many years with no issues.

I agree! I had this happen on a F ticket (although award), and check-in was very emphatic that my 21" co had to be checked because it was more than 8 kilos. Tried to reason with them but they strictly enforced the policy. Missed my connecting flight when the luggage arrived late in ORD... and the LH agent said he couldn't believe they made me check it after he saw it.
