I am doing a riverboat cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow and have enough points to book business or first through Air Canada, American, Delta or US Airways. That gives me access to a lot of airlines.

We want to do one stopover either going there or home. We think we prefer to do it on the way over while still fresh rather than after 13 days on a riverboat.

Any suggestions where to go. We are not interested in London, Paris or Rome. Our thoughts are Prague, Budapest, Copenhagen, Munich or Berlin. We would spend four nights there. That gives us 3 1/2 days to tour before we head to St. Petersburg or home.

Of those five cities I've been to three and Copenhagen is probably my favorite of them. We were there for about that same amount of time two summers ago and simply had a blast. Some bits of my notes from the trip can be found in the links below. I also like Munich but not as much as Copenhagen. Of course, I'd bet Copenhagen as also being the most expensive of the cities you listed, so keep that in mind. It was definitely a pricey visit.

    Post index (mostly) here.

Personally, I'd probably go for Copenhagen, but would also look strongly at Stockholm or Helsinki. If you picked HEL you could train over to St. Petersburg, plus "white nights," the beautiful Finnish coastline between Helsinki and the Russian border, explore the Helsinki harbor area or do a day trip to Tallinn... lots to see and do.

Prague in July feels like Times Square... masses of people.
