Until recently the spg website has indicated that the Palacio del Inka in Cusco (Cuzco?) would be opening June 2011 and I've been checking back regularly to see when they begin taking reservations. Checked back today and the hotel is no longer shows on the list of hotels in Peru... Anyone know if this is just a website problem or if the hotel is no longer scheduled to open (in which case I need to find someplace else to stay when we visit in July....)

    Thanks

I checked into this with some folks in The Luxury Collection and they say that this hotel will still be joining Starwood, but it isn't going to happen until perhaps as late as July 2012 after it goes through an extensive renovation project.

Any updated news on this hotel? I can't find it on the SPG site.

Only an hour's ride away from Cusco is the Luxury Collection's "Tambo Del Inka". Close enough to take in all that one would want to see/do in Cusco, whilst also being a great "base" for Valle Sagrado/Sacred Valley exploration as well (Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, etc.). Check the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, as well as the thread on Flyertalk. Am normally a bit "too good to be true"-skeptical of a mass of amazing ratings, but, IME, can't say enough good things about the property either.
