    Where is everyone at for 2018 status renewal/achievement?

    I've already requalified for 1K. I had debated trying to achieve some other status level but couldn't figure out anything that made sense.

    AS MVP. I can't make MVPG and won't be close, so I've moved flying to WN for the rest of the year, plus AV (BR J), BA (CX J) and AS (AA F) redemptions. I have about 10k AS EQM in travel taped out for 2018, and more to follow. As usual my 2018 travel will probably fall somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 miles- I would say AS MVPG is about the maximum I would get.

    I'm stuck at UA Silver unless I can get in a couple of trips in for 8500 miles by the end of year to reach Gold. It's a time issue more than anything else.

    I'm not sure there's enough difference between Gold and Silver to merit a mileage run or two.

    Picking Y+ seat in advance is the difference. Silver's pick at check in, if any are left.

    If you're not flying 100K miles a year on UA, I'd argue getting to choose Y+ seat early probably not worth the cost of a MR.

    I re-qualified for 1K about 2 months ago...I'm also less than 20,000 miles away from 2MM.

    I've been dirt for so long, I can't remember when I last qualified. However, that has freed me to pick the lowest fares and get the same "service" on all airlines. ABQ based, WN does tend to pick up the lions-share of my business, though.

    I do miss status on next weeks UA ABQ-ORD-YYZ and AA YYZ-ORD-ABQ and next springs award trip ABQ-LIH/OGG-ABQ, but I'll live.

    Or you could spend the cash you were going to spend on a MR for E+ seats...

    In my case, I could spend ~$800-1000 flying AS to get the benefits I like the best (free changes to tickets inside of 60 days and free same day change plus 50% more RDM), or I could just spend cash for miles and changes (or fly WN more). I prefer to spend the cash than sit in a tube for no reason than to sit in a tube some more. I guess this makes me a crazy person on FT/IF- the point is to fly because we fly, amirite?

    It's reasonably easy for me to structure travel to AS out of SEA since a lot of the AS routes I fly have competitors (this year: DFW, LAX, SFO, SMF, RNO, LAS, ORD), and AS, praise Cthulu, still awards status based on butt-in-seat not $$$ spent (I tend to be very cheap on my tickets). But if it wasn't the case I'd likely gravitate to WN since they tend to be the "best" at treating the "can't be loyal" flyer decently.

    As stated above you get Y+ for two at reservation. You also get SDC and an extra bag along with the entertainment of being on an earlier page of the upgrade list.
    While I do think Gold is a significant step up over Silver, I would be hard pressed to say its worth the time and expense to do an 8500 PQM MR for that. If you are going to do a lot of travel next year you can still buy a subscription to Y+.

    Maybe some P fares or a weekend on the West Coast gets you BG1, 2 RPUs and a few extra miles. I have done well with the RPUs myself and BG1 (especially out of EWR) has made for a better experience.
    You have to figure if it would be worth the time, effort and money for you for your travel next year. Soon as a MM you could be gaining status for 2.

    I was already considering a West Coast run!

    I have been a Plat since the spend requirement started (have cc waiver through plat), & was a 1k for several yrs before that.
