Out of curiosity I am asking if your status is different going into the 2013 program than it was going into the 2012 program.

Technically my status already changed as of late December.

Last year, I was Premier Silver. This year, I'll be Premier Gold.

I was Gold last year. Will be Plat this year. This year is looking bleak so far for maintaining that level, but hoping second half of year is better.

MM (Without many benefits i worked toward for years) Gold now. Was Premier Exec or 1k almost every year til last year for 15-since DIA opened. Serious family illness has ground most all travel to a halt through 2013?

Lord I'm going to regret asking this, but what benefits?

You lost two CR1/RPUs. But if you have a girl/boy who will have you, the status for them has to trump that since you would have been spending those upgrades to get them up front anyhow.

And, frankly, if you actually flew at all you could more than make those upgrades back with the two-for-25k-after-75k-and-four-at-75k deal.

Sent from a place using a fruit thing.

When I set this up, I expected a skew towards a move up since a promotion is more fun to talk about. We will see.

Going from 1K (for many years) to Gold this year.
Plan on continued path throughout this year and drop to GM for 2014
Then, plan to fully utilize my ToD buying power at that level for my UG's:D

I had to stop flying from April - October, and only had 70k PQMs. I was hoping (against hope hopen) that they might soft drop me to plat, but I think i will be going from from 1K to Gold. Ah well, not like being 1K out of Denver and flying to EWR/ORD/SFO has been beneficial anyway :|

My mother is a GM and I have often, but unpredictably, found ToD upgrades for her. So it might work...

I wonder if this data may be reflective of Platinum being the top tier on CO at the beginning of last year, thus those who were already flying over 100,000 per year got to 1K without changing their flying habits.

Hub to hub flying seems to be so filled with top status flyers that it makes being treated special rarer even at the upper tier levels.
You may find that dropping to Gold may have little effect on your flying experience if you expect to be in coach anyway (*A Gold status, free luggage and E+ at reservation).

I am surprised that we have not gotten any 'no longer elite' votes. I purposely allowed for multiple choices so that anyone who fell out could report both events.

Moved up from Plat to 1K, but looking ahead to this year, I think I'll be dropping back down

Those who are no longer elite most likely moved to other airlines, thus now following their primary carrier forums, or they fly so little that this site isn't high on their activity list anymore.

Very curious to see how how much the ranks have thinned as of today (February is typically when elite / premier ranks are at their thinnest, as there aren't many "current year" qualifiers to add to the "previous year" qualifiers). Unfortunately, my first flight in Feb is already sold out in F, so a shorter upgrade list isn't really going to help!

Well, United did lament having too many elites at the time of FFP integration, so the ranks are probably now more manageable all things considered. The d.r.S.L. possesses far more wisdom than the brains of ordinary men and women.
