Hi, debating booking trip to Europe for my daughter using statravel (which would be traveling via Virgin) and ticketing a held itin with AA (that expires tonight). AA is more expensive and restrictive, but concerned that if she has any issues Virgin won't help as not booked directly with them. Plus are they still having issues with seat assignments? Would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

This isn't going to be terribly helpful, but I booked my first transatlantic flight with them many, many years ago (prior to the invention of the web browser). No issues back then.

And just recently I referred two nieces to STA Travel for this trip. They got a quote that was about $200/person cheaper than what I found on Kayak, with a good routing.
