Starwood VIP - The invite only status given to hotel owners and the CEO of large companies which contract with SPG. Perks include a guaranteed suite 7 days prior to arrival and all types of perks the hotel will give in addition to the standard platinum benefits.

Who here has it any experiences for one of the most sought after secret clubs:).

I actually saw a list of all SPG cards including photos of them and benefits for the check in staff at a Sheraton and there was the VIP card on the top of the list but the benefits were in another language (French) so no idea what it said.

I would love to become part of this club.

VIP cards are exactly the same at other (Platinum) cards. Only they say VIP instead of Platinum.

    Flews, are you VIP? :)

From the sound of it, this seems much more exclusive than something like United Global Services, right? No way of making it by spending large amounts of money at SPG?

I am intimately acquainted (and travel) with someone who has had VIP status for several years. It is by invitation only. Many are owners. But not all. My acquaintance is not. Cheers,

Also intimately familiar with a VIP. You cannot earn VIP. You are a hotel owner or travel "influencer" for a large company. He says some hotels are great about recognizing benefits while others have never heard of it. Plat concierges are mixed in terms of their knowledge of the program. Also, if a standard suite is not available at the time of booking, a VIP might end up in a regular room.

But overall, he says it's a great program and he is treated well.

When you say "travel influencer," what exactly do you mean? Is this significant bloggers? Fortune 500 travel consultants? How exactly does this work?

Travel influencers would be those who help determine where and how others travel. For instance, if you are the head of a large corporation's travel plan.

Often I would not be surprised if those Influencers stay for free too.

Wholesale travel company Directors and senior Managers might make the list I imagine.

Maybe some 'influencers' stay free. But I can assure you VIP Preferred Guests do not stay free. As has been previously stated, in addition to Platinum benefits, VIP just gets better access to suites, and somtimes a nice welcome gift of wine/fruit/treats, that kind of thing...

A travel secretary for a professional sports team would be granted VIP?

Heard is not uncommon for them to take care of bills with personal credit cards.

I do for my work - I count it as a perk. I don't think SPG cares about the payment method. :)
