IMHO the *A lounges are not very nice. As everything in *A it seems to be the lowest common denominator only.
The LAX lounge at TBIT is a perfect example. A very poor F section, with very limited food options.
The *A adverts running everywhere which highlight the sushi at the LAX lounge are a joke.

True and there is not really a difference between silver and gold. In TBIT the silver section has a bigger bar.

The *A lounge at LHR has a very good food selection compared to other European *G lounges. Love their chicken curry.

TBIT F lounge is not a *G lounge. Only F pax are allowed.
Even HONs need to use the Business section.

I've only been there during breakfast, but the selection is decent. Much better than we would have if UA still had the RCC

Agree. Although OZ, SQ, and NH used to maintain lounges at the TBIT, and those were probably of a higher caliber than the *A lounge.

I think you misunderstand Rambuster, the F lounge is available for any first class passengers. Star alliance gold passengers not flying in F have only the business class lounge available.

Rambuster quoted that HON are not allowed to use F Lounge without F ticket. But with LX you get as HON access regardless your booking class.

Do you mean with LX branded lounge (as opposed to *A branded one)?

CDG *A lounge is great, dodged that UA bullet by switching through my OZ card... usually completely empty... eerie when they dim the lights down.
LHR dragons are friendly and remember you after only a few visits... just wish it were larger, at times it resembles the refugee camp outside the lounge, with people lying about everywhere.

I've only been in the F section of the CDG lounge and wasn't impressed. Less food and drink than the TBIT C lounge.

  15. Overall not particularly impressed with *A lounges, whether branded *A or not. There are of course better lounges offered by member carriers, but they generally are not available unless travelling in a particular class on that member carrier.

OW on the other hand seem to have a much higher general standard, with all lounges available as long as the appropriate cabin or FF card is shown.

    Agreed 100%
The other part of *A lounges is that when help is needed- there may not be a representative from "your" airline there to help- LAX for example if you need anything regarding LH either go to the gate or call- misses the point a bit of a lounge.
