I tried searching but couldn't find the answer. If I am using miles to fly some family members in business class on UA and some other partners (using UA miles) can they access the lounges on an international itinerary? I saw the following on the Star Alliance site and wasn't sure if revenue customer meant paid ticket (vs employees etc) or it meant non-award ticket only.

International Business Class Customers: Customers have access to any Star Alliance member carriers' owned Business Class lounges.
    • Customer must present a boarding pass for travel in International Business Class on a Star Alliance flight
    • Customer must be departing from the local airport in International Business Class
    • Customers must be a revenue customer
    • Customer is not entitled to any guests

Award tickets are revenue tickets in this context.

If they are on UA metal for a long-haul segment then they also get access to United Clubs prior to any domestic flights which might be on the itinerary; that is over and above the *A benefit.

If you have the specific itinerary with class of service and airports we can probably advise which specific lounges they will have access to and, in cases where there is more than one, which lounges are better than others.

That is good to hear - thanks for the quick reply. I should have it booked in the next few days and will post the itin to this thread to confirm. That will be great for my parents to know.

This is the itinerary - all legs booked in business using UA Miles - except MCT-DOH which is in Y.

    Thanks in advance.

You should get whatever lounge LH uses in DFW, the QR lounges in FRA and DOH, a contract lounge in KHI, probably nothing in MCT but worth asking the QR folks, the QR lounge in DOH and the Lufthansa Business Lounge in FRA.

Other than DOH and the return through FRA it will be contract lounges all the way.

Thanks. I was looking up Star Alliance lounges and figured that wouldn't work in DFW since United's lounge is in Terminal E. Thanks for all your help again

LH uses the "DFW Club" in DFW:
