I booked two one-way awards (me + 1) on United as one PNR. Turns out I likely won't be able to fly (but +1 will), so I called UA to split the PNR in order to cancel my ticket if needed. The cost was 10,000 miles (each) + $5.60 9/11 fee (each).

Looking at the two reservations now, they both show a cost of 20,000 (!) miles and $5.60.

    Looking at the eTicket Receipt:

    - +1's ticket shows a cost of $11.20 and 20,000 miles
    - my ticket shows a cost of $5.60 (and no miles)

So the question is: if I cancel my ticket online, what are the chances I will actually get my 10,000 miles (and $5.60) back? (we are both 1K, so no redeposit fees)

I'd call to do it rather than online but they'll get the numbers right in the end.

Purely by accident I found you can split multi pax award PNR's In my case I delayed a day on return (original PNR) and my +1 on (new PNR-not listed as award) was upgraded by her status 1K.
