Splitting minimum night stay between award nights and paid.

  1. Hotel has a minimum night stay requirement that we meet, but want to break it up between free nights and paid. Is this possible? SPG.com shows rooms available using points for stay. Many thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Possible only with intervention from the hotel side of things. No one at the Customer Contact Center can get it done without the hotel setting it up on their end. Call and ask for an associate to help with this. If they balk or cannot get it done themselves, escalate the issue to a supervisor.

  3. Much obliged. Follow-up question: while I don't currently have enough starpoints to book the full stay on points, I will in the next couple of months (months before the actual stay). Assuming I eventually have the points, will the Customer Contact Center be able to convert my paid reservation into an award stay or will it have to go through the hotel? Is there any deadline or restrictions for converting from paid to award?

It isn't possible to convert a paid-rate reservation into an award reservation without making an entirely new reservation. Situations such as this require a new availability check, so be sure that you can get an award room before canceling the paid one.
