We are pleased to announce the SPG® Power Up promotion. From January 15 through April 15, 2013, you can earn up to 18,000 bonus Starpoints across all hotels and resorts in the SPG program.

    • Earn 2,000 bonus Starpoints® for every four eligible nights you stay (up to 8,000 bonus Starpoints and 16 nights).
    • Plus, earn an additional 10,000 bonus Starpoints when you hit 20 eligible nights.
The registration window will begin early January. In the meantime you can visit spg.com/powerup to learn more, and to sign up for a text message reminder alerting you when registration begins (available for U.S. and U.K. members).

Let us know if you have any questions.

I'm not complaining about the promotion (1000/night for the first 16 nights, 500/night for the last two), but is it a shame when I'm not overly excited about 18,000 Starpoints anymore? I suppose it's the cap, because I know what I could earn if this were uncapped... :D

Don't get me wrong - 1500 points/night including MAGC is rather nice. Add to that 6 points/dollar for SPG spend with the Amex and Platinum 75 status, figure $125/night so 750/night there = 2250 points/night.

I'm glad that there is a promo for Q1, but I'll have 16 nights between Jan 15 and Jan 31, so it's a shame this isn't a program that I can take advantage of in Feb, March or April. It might make me look at other programs that have bonuses going on those months - though I'll still keep Starwood as #1 on my hotel loyalty list!

+1. I don't know yet that I'm on that pace, but I'll definitely "top out" and at least look at other chains' promos.

    Thanks William.

All registered and in. Not the greatest promotion ever, but a promotion that brings some points so no complaints here. Just need a few things to fall in to place with regards to a possible March vacation and I could well be on for the full amount. If not, I'll take what I can get ;)

I have the chance to book multiple rooms in a single night (yea for me and my points balance ;)). Does each night in a room count towards the 4 eligible nights and/or the 20 eligible nights?

For example, if I book 3 rooms in the same hotel for the same night, does that count as 1 night or 3 nights in this promo.

    Thanks -

You can do a Max of 3 rooms and they all count as one night. You should also do the platinum challenge at the same time so you hit platinum once you have 18 nights. Call Starwood and ask them about it. I just finished both promotions.

Let me clarify. 3 rooms equals 3 nights. I did 3 rooms for 6 nights. And then two rooms for one night.

That is for status. I am already a plt. My question was about the promo. No info that I could find in the T&C. I ask bc I remember something from a prior promo that these extra rooms don't count.

The extra rooms did count. I already have my 18000 extra points.

Good to know. I have two rooms for two nights this weekend. That'll be another 4 nights and 2000 point bonus!

Only to say that it depends on how the hotel posts the stay.

If they post multiple rooms as single individual stays to the same account, then this would not be an outlier. If they post multiple rooms on one folio as a single stay, then it would.

Finally saw this in my account and it made me smile:
While it certainly wasn't a promo to write home about, I won't ever argue with free points.
