SPG has a tendency to create websites or webpages just for special sales. Sometimes they're good, and sometimes not. It often takes some legwork for someone to find value in them.

So if I find a new offer that might be of value to someone but that hasn't yet proven worthy of its own thread, I've decided to just post them here first. If someone finds value in them, please start a thread for that particular offer.

As a general heads up, I've been increasingly finding special rates and packages that do not appear when one tries to book through spg.com, even when asking for special rates and packages. One way to find some of these--although not the stay two and get one night free sort of promo in general--is to click onto the hotel's own site (sometimes it looks like Sheraton or aloft, etc. rather than Starwood) and then look for an "Offers" or similar button to click. One can especially find local rates or rates promoting local special events this way. It's annoying that there generally isn't a calendar giving availability for these deals.

One site that has done very well by me, and I have mentioned in the Starwood Forum, for EAME, is:
    http://beatthetimer.com/

(And all points and benefits accrue)
