So... I just got an update from Award Wallet that a reservation at the Sheraton Maui for 5 nights that had been made for 48,000 points was now 80,000 points. Which is interesting...

I'm not sure what's going on here. So far my SPG points balance hasn't gone down. But if I login to SPG and look at the reservation I see:

Now in fact I booked the 5 nights for 12,000 points per night x 4 = 48,000 points plus the 5th night free. Does this update mean anything? Is it just a side-effect of their system only having one award chart online at a time?

It's kind of a pain as far as keeping track of what value you're getting out of the program, when the number of points you've used for an award isn't actually correct...

    Hi gconnery,

The system is just showing the amount of points needed for Free Night Award redemption now. Your original reservation is still valid.

Thanks Christina. A bit weird how it works, but okay. I'd rather be able to keep track of what I spent on a reservation by clicking on the details link, but okay, I guess this doesn't happen a lot. I'll just have to keep track of the award cost myself in the future.
