Southwest Airlines may commit to 737 MAX

    Boeing and its largest 737 customer, Southwest Airlines, are near agreement for the Dallas-based carrier to commit to buying up to 150 of Boeing’s newest 737, the Wall Street Journal said today.

    Southwest flies only Boeing aircraft.

    The plane that Southwest may order, the 737 MAX, is the fourth generation of the world’s best-selling jetliner. Boeing said it will deliver the first of the new planes in 2017.

    The MAX will be equipped with new engines and modified aerodynamics to cut fuel burn and improve reliability of the twin-engine, single-aisle plane.

    737 MAX sounds interesting, this would be the equivalent to the Airbus A320 Neo!:)
