Don't get me wrong: I always enjoy the benefits that the Ambassador prgrame brings, but sometimes it's just priceless (sounds like a MasterCard ad!)

Needed a room in Al Jubail, KSA from 4-7 March, only the booking portal showed no availability for 4-5...

So I booked 5-7 March and called the PC booking number...
This really nice gentleman on the other side did his best for 20 minutes, even called the hotel directly, but after 20 minutes had to tell me he really couldn't do anything for me... :(
So I called the Ambassador customer service number...
"Hello Sir, can I have your membership number?"
"Yes I can see your reservation... For what date did you want a room?"
"Ok, your new reservation number is ******..."

How can you NOT love that? :D

(BTW: The hotel picked it up very nicely as well... The extra night was approx. 60% more expensive than the other 2 nights, but they combined the 2 rezzies in to a single one at the lower rate! Very nice indeed!)

PS: KLM/AF... Are you paying attention? THIS is how you do customer loyalty programs!

(Sorry for that! We'll resume your scheduled program now!)

Once again I am jealous. :) Not much to complain about as an RA.

True.. so far I had nothing to complain about as an RA.
Or maybe that from now on I have to choose between Lounge access and room upgrade.
    Before I just got both.

True that... Weird, isn't it? A better "better room" or lounge access? (Sometimes both, when you get really lucky, tho)

  6. I've got three IC Asian stays coming up in the next couple of weeks so we'll see how that works. As noted in another thread they have limited the room choices for corporate rates, at least they did for mine.

Wishing you the best of luck.
During my last stay last week in IC Frankfurt I received a memo in my room explaining they are making the choice unanimous amoungst all other IC Properties.
IC Warsaw did it already few months back.
But hey, be nice and give the reception ppl a ;) and a :) upon arrival and who knows right.. :D

Except for lack of benefits on award stays (when you might want them most of all!).

  9. The secret of getting better rooms on award stays for me is to book the first night as a paid room and the rest as award nights. Works well if the award stay is several days long. At least it does for me.

Agreed! Been doing that for years now, You may not get all the benefits on your award portion but you almost always you get to keep the upgraded room and lounge access.
