I've finally licked the "where are you flying?" question without actually answering it...

    DFW Checkpoint A35 today...

ID Checker: Where are you going today, Sir?

Me: [Expletive] if I can remember. I just do what The Man™ tells me to. If The Man™ tells me to go to Los Angeles, I go to Los Angeles, if The Man™ tells me to mop the floor, I mop the floor, if the The Man™ tells me to kick someone's arse, I... [interrupted]

ID Checker: I hear you bro. Have a good one.

TSO: Where are you flying today?

Me: What day is it? I'm old and sometimes forgetful and with all the travel I do, I'm not sure. May I see the boarding pass you're holding in your hand?

It's easier if you use an electronic boarding pass on one's smartphone..... one of the reasons I've gone to electronic BP whenever I can.

Thank you for the laugh! That is one of the best responses I've ever heard. Well done.

On my last trip, I would have legitimately been able to say, "I'm going to visit some companies that produce weapons of mass destruction for certain Arab countries." Man, I'm sorry they didn't ask.

  8. I reply that my trip is Confidential. I actually sign Confidentality Papers with my customers.

I think my favorite question is, "Is your name XXX XXXXXX?" ;)

I think that is more just a friendly question. I always only give the BP to the agent for the flight departing the airport I am currently at, even if I am connecting. Even if I answer my final destination (which would only be evident if you had by connecting BP) I have never been given a hard time.

ID Checker: Where are you going today, Sir?

    Answer:
I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again
Oh, babe, I hate to go

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, oh, let me kiss you
And close your eyes and I'll be on my way

Dream about the days to come
When I won't have to leave alone
About the times that I won't have to say

I'm leaving on a jet plane
I don't know when I'll be back again

This is my favourite. I can't say I'm old, so I'll only use the second part.

Anyway as a foreigner (easily spotted by the Passport) either they avoid to chat or they ask question so fast that my standard reply is "Sorry ?" and that usually kills the discussion.
