as united flyers, it's nice that the initialism "MP" is no longer ambiguous. "Milepoint" or "MileagePlus"? Now it's discussion of MP here on IF :)

UA MP is here to stay on IF.. Now IF UA continues to change in a positive direction (as I beleive they will) we can have a Thread to share our mutual likes about MP ON IF :)

Hmm, I wonder if you could be a bit more explicit. What is there about the MP program that is worse than most of the other airlines? Of course, our perks are slowly being chipped away, but so are they everywhere else, too, no?

AA hasn't changed much. Their accrual rates are similar to what UA had back in 2012 before the changes (100% flight miles and 100% bonus miles if you fly 50K or more a year) and systemwides are good on all published fares, not the higher priced ones. No spending minimums, either, and partner awards in F are not surcharged. I'm still pretty happy there and moved all my flying to them when UA announced the Mileage Plus changes in 2012 that started in 2013. Prior to that I flew both UA and AA.

Not to say things might change down the line, but in 2015, as a leisure traveler, I'm bringing in about triple the miles on tickets compared to what I'd accrue at UA.

    Context is everything.

I'm earning 1.1 million miles this year on UA, and may hit 30 or so certificates (RPUs + GPUs earned). MP most certainly does not suck for the context I'm experiencing.

Others are losing out big time compared to times past.

    Context.

Yes and no, It only sucks if it isn't working for you and you're still flying United. :-:

I've spent $1,603 PQD on United since the cut over on 3/1 and earned only 17,633 Miles. Had we stayed under the traditional system I would have earned 44,808 RDMs which is a major whammy but it is what it is. It's somewhat "unfair" to these who are accustomed to highly leisure travel on long haul routes like Melbourne to Los Angeles. I earned 2,508 RDMs instead of the usual 15,840.

Read the post above yours :)

In retrospect I should have said "MP is dead."

    Long live MP, then.
The culling of low margin elite continues. The job now is to make the high margin elite happier.

I am not sure I have noticed much as a business traveler. I seem to max out the 75,000 RDM per trip because all my flights are last minute.
