If you're buying, sure.
There's a thread on TOBB and rumblings on twitter about a mistake rate at onhotels.com
Needless to say, Caracas is not the kind of place that I'd go visit for sightseeing on a whim especially considering the currently atrocious murder rate and recent incidents involving ambushes on the highway.
Still, you can't go wrong with the price... and it can lead to some seriously easy IC stays if you don't get killed in the process
I'd like to redact my previous reply for obvious reasons.
You do know that last week, the Government devalued the bolivar by 44% only for tourists - i.e foreigners who come bringing in moolah, much of this is to combat the underground blackmarket. So, if hotel rate was 100 Dollars is not now cheaper by 44%
The rate was fifty cents a night
Of course the "we're sorry" emails started pouring in this morning already.
Aah - SNAFU
the money saved on the hotel room can go towards your burial costs.
This is a special B & B rate -- Bed & Burial.
I've stayed there.... The Intercontinental in Caracas that is.
How long ago was this? It seems to be the weakest property in the portfolio.
Anyone knows the upgrade policy here by any chance?
there is a bit of competition for the weakest IC property
however IC Caracas is one of the few outside the USA that I have not stayed at
I don't think any IC comes close to being the worst - check out the tripadvisor ratings - 34% Recommend the hotel - of which there are obvious fake reviews like this user's: http://www.tripadvisor.com/members-citypage/129DanielR/g316066
the Intercontinental Santo Domingo was rough but I see it is now a CP
the IC Lusaka is no gem either
the fake reviews for places can be entertaining
Probably been almost 10 years, so I have no current info. Used to work in tourism there before it just became too impossible. Stayed at the Four Seasons Caracas during the very brief period it existed as a Four Seasons, and tended to favor the JW on most trips.
Seems the Hilton is also no more - only the Embassy Suites from the Hilton chain is left.
You guys want to see what the Minibar looks like in one of the top suites in the IC Caracas?
