http://travel.usatoday.com/flights/...aycomTravel-TopStories+(Travel+-+Top+Stories) The next time you see a slot machine in the airport terminal, it might not be in Las Vegas or Reno. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the Illinois Senate recently passed legislation that would put slot machines at airports and other places around the state. Illinois legislators see this as a way to create more jobs and pay the bills for the cash-strapped state. The approved legislation is seen as a victory for Chicago's new mayor, Rahm Emanuel, a major proponent of the bill, according to the Sun-Times. Opponents of the bill argue that the legislation will "bankrupt Illinoisans with gambling addictions and take aim at those who can least afford to squander their payroll or Social Security checks," according to the Sun-Times article. Given the placement of these one-arm bandits in the airports, it may be more likely to impact travelers with gambling addictions from other places who just happen to be flying to or through an airport in Illinois.
